Reality Weigh day #24

Day 175: Run 63

It's official I have been doing this for at least 6 months now. I've lost about 30 lbs. It would have been more if I didn't allow Christmas to screw me over.

This is what happens when you run in
the rain without waterproof mascara!
(1/8/13)
It has been really hard to get back on track, but I am losing again... kind of but not a measurable amount.

On Wednesday it was raining so hard, I mean just down pouring and I loved running it! I'm sure the cars driving by thought I was nuts, but it felt great!

I have had a lot of people try to tell me what is best, but the truth of the matter is that weight loss is a personal thing and only I can decide what is best for me. What is best for me might not be what is best for you.

I'm the type of person that if you give me an inch I am going to take a mile. If I give myself a cookie, I am going to eat 5. If I have a piece of fudge I'm also going to eat those potato chips. Knowing this about myself I don't give myself cheat days very often. Vacations and holidays are not excuses to gorge myself, but I do it anyways. (I actually did quite well on vacation last August)

Having said that what is best for me might not be best for you, I do have one contradiction to make. Real weight loss does not come from a product. It does not come from a pill, or a wrap or a bottle and surgery is simply cheating unless you're so fat you're going to die without it. Real weight loss comes from change and effort. If you are not willing to make the sacrifice then you are not going to be completely successful. You might get some success, but it wont last forever.

  • Motivation:  I need to lose more, must run more!

  • Listening to:  Mt. Sims, Muse

  • Thankful for: All of the people in the park, because for some reasons my ego wont let me walk if someone is looking, I have to be running.

Ice Runner is White and whiny! Weigh day #23

Day 165 : Run 57 (I skipped out on Monday)

Running has gotten to be burdensome and I don't like it. I also don't know why it feels like a burden, but it does.

So weigh day 23 is here and well ladies and gentlemen. I have gained. I weigh 186.6. I can blame the holidays all I want, but it's my own fault for lack of self control. I ate like I was a starving child in Africa.

Let's examine some reports....

Does that red circle look like a plateau to you?
Let's get a little closer...

Yep. It's a plateau alright.

What am I going to do? I gotta get out of this rut! I know I haven't been on the ball lately about it but I was still on this plateau before the holiday eating started. Since the end of November!

This = NOT OKAY!!

I'm tired of working hard and not getting results! It sucks! Why can't weight loss just be steady? Stupid body, don't know what's good for you! I'm gonna punch me so hard! 23 weeks now I have been doing this. I should have lost 46 lbs by now!! GRRRR!! and why is it that I can only eat 1200 calories a day? if my husband did this he would probably get to eat 2000 a day and he would lose weight like no one's business.

This = NOT FAIR!! and I hate not fair!

  • Motivation: The scale God was displeased this morning and I must please the scale God!

  • Listening to:  Snoop Dogg (Now called Snoop Lion, but to me he will always be Dogg)
Which is where the I'm White story comes into play. I was listening to "The Next Episode" and decided to sing along... out loud... Thankfully I was all alone because I realized I had sung out loud some lyrics that could have been severely offensive, I don't personally care, but I would have cared if someone wanted to beat me up over it.
  • Thankful for: Whoever lives on 33rd St and has that wood burning stove! It smelled glorious is the fresh cold air!

Ice Runner Beats Old Man! Weigh day #22

Day 161: Run 56 (I think)

So it's been a while. My bad. Even when I have time, I don't do what I should do with it.

Pretty much I have been gorging myself for the last week blaming it on the holidays when really it was a simple lack of self control. All I have to show for it is 5 extra pounds and a smile!

So weigh day #22 was the day after Christmas.. total bust.

Yes I have been eating a lot, but I have also been running hard! I'm not as fast and I used to be because I spent too many mornings lazily doing a Jill Coleman workout from Xfinity on Demand!

But here I am and still plugging away at trying to be skinny!

Don't give m this crap about it shouldn't be about being skinny because guess what?! IT IS ABOUT BEING SKINNY! Why you might ask? I don't know ask society! A healthy skinny of course, but skinny none the less! Yes I was to wear skinny jeans and boots and those somehow only fit skinny people and gay guys!

Also for Christmas my amazing husband got me new yoga pants! YAY! When my friend Jacy comes home from Honduras I have decided that I am going to do hot yoga with her and I need to be in shape and look good in 'dem yoga clothes! He also got me an Under Armor running t-shirt that says, "Go Pink or Go Home" and it is in support of breast cancer awareness! I think he knows me too well! (Impossible to know your spouse to well!)

OK here are 2 running stories for you!

ICE RUNNER!

On one of my runs in the last 10 days it was early in the morning and was very icy out. I almost fell on my butt like 12 times! But when I got running fast I felt super awesome and decided to call my self Ice Runner or The Ice Runner! (Still not sure which one I like better) Either way it was funny.

BEAT THE OLD MAN!

Today while running I decided to play a new game called beat the old man! There was an old man walking on my running route so I decided to find a longer route and try to race him to where the paths crossed. I won! I got there first! Take that old man! (He didn't know he was playing so I suppose it wasn't entirely a fair win)

  • Motivation:  The scale God was displeased this morning and I must please the scale god!

  • Listening to:  Katy Perry, Nirvana, Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert

  • Thankful for: Stopping the missionaries and talking to them about how their work was going!

Holy Cow.. It's been a while... Weigh Day #21

Day 151: Run 52

Well it has been almost 2 weeks since I last posted. I have been extremely busy and extremely stressed. I finally got past the 30 lb mark and was able to take measurements today. I'm doing alright, I wish my inches lost was higher but whatever. I have been working out to a cardio video for that last two weeks for 2 reasons.
1. It's super cold outside and
2. My body needed something different.

Then I went running today and it didn't suck but, I was just unorganized and didn't have as much time as I would have liked. I have felt rushed all day long.

Here are my measurements:

I'm too tired to post stats and my route. It sucked and that's all I care to share.

The Honest Truth Weigh Day #19

Day 140: Run 50 was yesterday

Well guys, I'm a little upset. Most of the time I just skip weigh days when I weigh more than I did the week before but I decided that was not being honest. This blog is supposed to be about the whole journey and not just the ups and high points. I have been negative before and I felt that was being honest, but I need to be honest about the weight thing too.

I now weight 186.2 which is up 0.8lbs. I'm not happy about it. I want to hit the 30 lbs mark, but I just can't seem to get there. I am eating 1200 calories a day and running my butt off! I'm tired of seeing the scale with a higher number on it. I lose weight every other week and the way I'm eating and exercising I should be losing 2lbs a week!

I am eating right and I am exercising. I am doing it to REAL way. The hard way. The healthy way. The I don't have to drastically yo yo forever way. The best way! In my mind this is the ONLY way!

I am hitting a plateau and I don't want to! I'm not even half way there yet!

  • Motivation:  Hey legs, stop jiggling! Stop rubbing together and ruining my jeans! And hey calves, hurry up and get smaller so I can wear some freaking boots already!!!!

  • Listening to:   NEED NEW MUSIC!!

  • Thankful for: Seeing a friend who hasn't seen me since before the journey began!

I don't even want to talk about my running because apparently trying harder makes you run slower!

Week of Triumphs! & Weigh Day #18

Day 134: Run 48

Alight so I weighed myself last week and it wasn't pretty, but do I expect weighing myself on the day after Thanksgiving. That got me thinking... sometimes I sneak on the scale on Mondays and Wednesdays and I am lighter than I am on Fridays. So..

I have made the switch to weighing myself on Wednesdays now instead of Fridays.

So I weighed myself 2 days ago and... tah-dahhh 185.6 that is a loss of 3.4 lbs since the last time I recorded my weight. I don't record when I gain. That totals 29.4 lbs total! Which means once I lose .6 more lbs I will have to re-measure myself!

Created by MyFitnessPal - Free Calorie Counter

Also this last week has been a week of triumphs for me! I ran my fastest mile and then beat it twice! I also ran/walked a track for 4 miles on Thanksgiving while my husband played in a turkey bowl on the field. Now my fastest mile is 9:53 I am getting faster and I love it!

My sternum has been hurting a lot too after I run so I talked to a running friend and she said that it was caused by my breathing. I have read a lot of how to breath, but I just can't seem to get it right. She said I just needed to find something that worked for me, but was consistent like 2 steps breath in and 2 steps breath out. I tried that today and it was alright, I just need more practice I think!

  • Motivation:  Can I keep beating my personal best? Can I run faster today?

  • Listening to: Some random mix from before

  • Thankful for: Saying, "Good Morning!" to everyone I saw... being nice makes the dark seem a little less scary.

Go Girl, GO!!

Today is day 125: Workout 6.5(it was small) Run 45

This morning I hit the snooze button when I should have gotten my large caucus out of bed and done the 32 minute workout I did on Monday it was great and didn't make me feel uncoordinated, but I didn't I snoozed then got up and did a baby workout called Upper Body Cardio Burnout... My upper body was not worked as hard has my lower body.

I count it as half a workout because it was so lame. I was sweaty at the end, but it was weak.

I said I would go running later because tomorrow is my next cheat day!! WOOT WOOT! HERE I COME STUFFING AND POTATOES!!

So I got off work early and decided I would go for a walk, I wasn't really feeling like a run.... but I got my butt out there and what do I do.... I run 4 freaking miles!

Including my fastest 5k time yet but I just now realized that my tracker was set to walk and therefore did not count my 5k... WTF? DANG IT!!!

Oh well I only shed a minute so it was like 41 minutes instead of 42.

  • Motivation:  Lame workout gotta make up those calories!

  • Listening to:   Some random mix from before

  • Thankful for: Decided to go out and run!
