Ice Runner Beats Old Man! Weigh day #22

Day 161: Run 56 (I think)

So it's been a while. My bad. Even when I have time, I don't do what I should do with it.

Pretty much I have been gorging myself for the last week blaming it on the holidays when really it was a simple lack of self control. All I have to show for it is 5 extra pounds and a smile!

So weigh day #22 was the day after Christmas.. total bust.

Yes I have been eating a lot, but I have also been running hard! I'm not as fast and I used to be because I spent too many mornings lazily doing a Jill Coleman workout from Xfinity on Demand!

But here I am and still plugging away at trying to be skinny!

Don't give m this crap about it shouldn't be about being skinny because guess what?! IT IS ABOUT BEING SKINNY! Why you might ask? I don't know ask society! A healthy skinny of course, but skinny none the less! Yes I was to wear skinny jeans and boots and those somehow only fit skinny people and gay guys!

Also for Christmas my amazing husband got me new yoga pants! YAY! When my friend Jacy comes home from Honduras I have decided that I am going to do hot yoga with her and I need to be in shape and look good in 'dem yoga clothes! He also got me an Under Armor running t-shirt that says, "Go Pink or Go Home" and it is in support of breast cancer awareness! I think he knows me too well! (Impossible to know your spouse to well!)

OK here are 2 running stories for you!

ICE RUNNER!

On one of my runs in the last 10 days it was early in the morning and was very icy out. I almost fell on my butt like 12 times! But when I got running fast I felt super awesome and decided to call my self Ice Runner or The Ice Runner! (Still not sure which one I like better) Either way it was funny.

BEAT THE OLD MAN!

Today while running I decided to play a new game called beat the old man! There was an old man walking on my running route so I decided to find a longer route and try to race him to where the paths crossed. I won! I got there first! Take that old man! (He didn't know he was playing so I suppose it wasn't entirely a fair win)

  • Motivation:  The scale God was displeased this morning and I must please the scale god!

  • Listening to:  Katy Perry, Nirvana, Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert

  • Thankful for: Stopping the missionaries and talking to them about how their work was going!

Holy Cow.. It's been a while... Weigh Day #21

Day 151: Run 52

Well it has been almost 2 weeks since I last posted. I have been extremely busy and extremely stressed. I finally got past the 30 lb mark and was able to take measurements today. I'm doing alright, I wish my inches lost was higher but whatever. I have been working out to a cardio video for that last two weeks for 2 reasons.
1. It's super cold outside and
2. My body needed something different.

Then I went running today and it didn't suck but, I was just unorganized and didn't have as much time as I would have liked. I have felt rushed all day long.

Here are my measurements:

I'm too tired to post stats and my route. It sucked and that's all I care to share.

The Honest Truth Weigh Day #19

Day 140: Run 50 was yesterday

Well guys, I'm a little upset. Most of the time I just skip weigh days when I weigh more than I did the week before but I decided that was not being honest. This blog is supposed to be about the whole journey and not just the ups and high points. I have been negative before and I felt that was being honest, but I need to be honest about the weight thing too.

I now weight 186.2 which is up 0.8lbs. I'm not happy about it. I want to hit the 30 lbs mark, but I just can't seem to get there. I am eating 1200 calories a day and running my butt off! I'm tired of seeing the scale with a higher number on it. I lose weight every other week and the way I'm eating and exercising I should be losing 2lbs a week!

I am eating right and I am exercising. I am doing it to REAL way. The hard way. The healthy way. The I don't have to drastically yo yo forever way. The best way! In my mind this is the ONLY way!

I am hitting a plateau and I don't want to! I'm not even half way there yet!

  • Motivation:  Hey legs, stop jiggling! Stop rubbing together and ruining my jeans! And hey calves, hurry up and get smaller so I can wear some freaking boots already!!!!

  • Listening to:   NEED NEW MUSIC!!

  • Thankful for: Seeing a friend who hasn't seen me since before the journey began!

I don't even want to talk about my running because apparently trying harder makes you run slower!

Week of Triumphs! & Weigh Day #18

Day 134: Run 48

Alight so I weighed myself last week and it wasn't pretty, but do I expect weighing myself on the day after Thanksgiving. That got me thinking... sometimes I sneak on the scale on Mondays and Wednesdays and I am lighter than I am on Fridays. So..

I have made the switch to weighing myself on Wednesdays now instead of Fridays.

So I weighed myself 2 days ago and... tah-dahhh 185.6 that is a loss of 3.4 lbs since the last time I recorded my weight. I don't record when I gain. That totals 29.4 lbs total! Which means once I lose .6 more lbs I will have to re-measure myself!

Created by MyFitnessPal - Free Calorie Counter

Also this last week has been a week of triumphs for me! I ran my fastest mile and then beat it twice! I also ran/walked a track for 4 miles on Thanksgiving while my husband played in a turkey bowl on the field. Now my fastest mile is 9:53 I am getting faster and I love it!

My sternum has been hurting a lot too after I run so I talked to a running friend and she said that it was caused by my breathing. I have read a lot of how to breath, but I just can't seem to get it right. She said I just needed to find something that worked for me, but was consistent like 2 steps breath in and 2 steps breath out. I tried that today and it was alright, I just need more practice I think!

  • Motivation:  Can I keep beating my personal best? Can I run faster today?

  • Listening to: Some random mix from before

  • Thankful for: Saying, "Good Morning!" to everyone I saw... being nice makes the dark seem a little less scary.

Go Girl, GO!!

Today is day 125: Workout 6.5(it was small) Run 45

This morning I hit the snooze button when I should have gotten my large caucus out of bed and done the 32 minute workout I did on Monday it was great and didn't make me feel uncoordinated, but I didn't I snoozed then got up and did a baby workout called Upper Body Cardio Burnout... My upper body was not worked as hard has my lower body.

I count it as half a workout because it was so lame. I was sweaty at the end, but it was weak.

I said I would go running later because tomorrow is my next cheat day!! WOOT WOOT! HERE I COME STUFFING AND POTATOES!!

So I got off work early and decided I would go for a walk, I wasn't really feeling like a run.... but I got my butt out there and what do I do.... I run 4 freaking miles!

Including my fastest 5k time yet but I just now realized that my tracker was set to walk and therefore did not count my 5k... WTF? DANG IT!!!

Oh well I only shed a minute so it was like 41 minutes instead of 42.

  • Motivation:  Lame workout gotta make up those calories!

  • Listening to:   Some random mix from before

  • Thankful for: Decided to go out and run!

STATS and ROUTE:
Duration- 0:53:14

Weigh Day 16 aka WTF?!

Today is Day 121: Workout 5 and Run 44

So Wednesday was just kind of an awful run sort of day, plus it has been bitter cold outside so I decided to do a workout video from xfinity on demand called cardio burn. All it did was hurt my knees and make me feel uncoordinated. I did not start my day off on a good foot. SO after getting home from work I went for a run and that was much better, but boy do I feel it in my knees.

Unfortunately this week I gained 1.2 lbs. I am very unhappy about it. I do not understand how I can be eating so little and working out and not loose weight? Can anyone explain this to me? I am just so frustrated having broken my the 190 barrier and now I weigh 190.2. I really hope I drop like 3-4 lbs this week.

I am just disappointed because it has been really hard for me to eat right and run the last couple of weeks and I have nothing to show for it.

Well on the awesome side of things I have filled out another running chart!

Unfortunately I cannot afford anything on THE LIST right now and I wasn't able to afford it the last time around either so I have decided to save them all up and buy a pair of Rock Revival Jeans. In order to do this I have to save 5 of them! Here is just an idea of what I am saving them for!

I really wish I had the money for a bow flex or an elliptical to have in my house because seriously it is getting way to cold out side.

  • Motivation:  Being smaller and my husband continuing to say "Hello Skinny Wife!"

  • Listening to:   Old mix with Gaga, Adam Lambert, Britney Spears

  • Thankful for: My run yesterday so that I could go out to eat without feeling like a fatty after gaining a pound.

Weigh Day 15

Today is Day 116 : Run 41

Weigh day results... I weigh 189 and have lost 26 pounds since I started!

Created by MyFitnessPal - Free Calorie Counter

I have been awful about blogging. I feel bad, but my life just keeps getting busier and it will probably continue to get even busier. I will try harder to post more often so that I can have fun titles instead of just Weigh Day.

Last night I had a dream that I ran a 5k with no problem and so today I wanted to try my hand at running that far. Check my time and what not, but it was much easier in my dream than it was in real life. I know I can do it obviously, but I want to run for longer periods of time before I actually sign up for a real event!

I am also thinking that I need to more than just run. My legs are starting to look good and tummy is getting smaller, but it in no way is getting toned and I don't want flabby arms so I am going to need to start toning! I am thinking about borrowing Jillian Michael's from my sister in law... any other suggestions on what would be a good way to go about toning?

  • Motivation:  Last night's dream!

  • Listening to:   New random mix including Fall Out Boy

  • Thankful for: All of those who faithfully serve our country and put their lives on the line for our freedom... Got Freedom? Thank a Veteran!

I realize that I have not blogged for over a week and I am sorry. Life has been very, very busy, but needless to say I am on track to graduate and do not have to take any extra classes! I just have to finish out my senior year and do my student teaching! I am beyond excited! I AM ALMOST THERE!

  • Motivation:  My jeans are getting way to big! (I need to buy a belt because heaven knows I can't afford new jeans!)

  • Listening to:   My Lady Gaga Mix!

  • Thankful for: Being able to get my body up and moving even when I didn't want to!

My sister and I have shared a pair of snowboarding pants and she was smaller than me so she was wearing them. I am in need of a new pair and because she wont be ale to go snowboarding this year she asked if I wanted to use those pants. I tried them on last night and I was able to button them! I still need to lose some more weight for them to be functional but I am very excited about being able to fit in them!

Weigh Day 13

Day 99: Run 34

Tomorrow will be day 100!!!

Weigh day results... I weigh 191.4 and lost 2 pounds since last week and 23.6 pounds since I started!

Created by MyFitnessPal - Free Calorie Counter

I realize that I have blogged for a week and I am sorry. Life is getting very hectic for me with student teaching and graduation right around the corner. My runs were fine. Nothing to write home about, however on Monday I was almost home and out of no where this little dog is right next to me and barks! I screamed of course because I didn't realize it was there until it said something.

Then on Wednesday I was crossing the street and noticed a wrench in the middle of the street so I kicked it off the road and bent down to move it onto the sidewalk and as I turned around and stood up there was a man walking by talking on his cell phone. Of course I screamed because it surprised me and I felt a little bad because he was on the phone, but not completely bad because who in their right mind sneaks up on a female runner at 6:30 in the morning while she is bent over?

Other than that running is going good. I have been really trying hard to eat right. I think that eating right is the key to my weight loss.

I've exercised before but nothing came of it so I would quit. Now that I realize how much food I was taking in I know why I couldn't lose weight. I was being counter productive.

If you are having difficulty losing weight after trying exercise, examine your diet! Check out My Fitness Pal you can also get the app on your phone.

  • Motivation: Wasn't good enough!

  • Listening to: A new Lady Gaga mix I made

  • Thankful for: Running my fastest mile yet! 0:11:40 (I know that is slow to a track star, but it's my fastest and I'm getting better and improving everyday!)

Also some quick tidbits from Endomondo (My run tracker, there's an app for that!), since I have started tracking my runs I have:

Gone: 106.02 miles equaling 0.004 trips around the world
Ran for a total: 1 day and 11 hours
and
Burned about: 14,000 kcals(calories) equaling about 26 Burgers!

Weigh Day 12

Today is Day 93: Run 31

Yesterday was weigh day... I lost nothing, but I also gained nothing so I am static. I will take the zero over a plus any day! So I still weigh 193.4.

Created by MyFitnessPal - Free Calorie Counter

I had a really rough night Thursday and therefore ate my feelings with McDonald's and blame that for my static weight Friday morning!

Also my run Friday morning sucked! It was awful. First I left my iPod at work the day before and I got up earlier than normal because I had an early meeting to attend. I also shortened my route so that I didn't take as much time. Nope still took the same amount of time. I just couldn't get my body to keep running.

So... I decided I get a re-do and went running again when I got home from work. The first time was not good enough for me and I was going to make it better. Plus my husband's car didn't start so I had to pick him up from work so I had to go fast in order to pick him up on time.

Same 2 mile route.The difference 8 minutes.

  • Motivation:  Wasn't good enough!

  • Listening to:   A new Lady Gaga mix I made

  • Thankful for: Being able to run.

Minor Change in Route

Day 88: Run 30

Today's run was sort of tough. The first part where I am running was just a drag, I wasn't feeling it and that's how the majority of the run went. However, my personal best for 1 mile in 12 min and I got very close to that today with 13 minutes. I am just not a fast runner. I'm not built to go fast. I will keep improving and trying though.

  • Motivation:  I want to keep losing weight!

  • Listening to:  Muse, Rob Zombie,

  • Thankful for: My shoes! They keep correcting my feet, it's great!

I changed my route to add more distance. The red circles will show you the two areas I changed in order to get some more distance. Today I ran 2.47 miles I kept running around my parking lot trying to get to 2.5, but my tracker must have been screwy because it stopped at 2.48 and did not keep going. I know I ran around more than 2 one hundredths of a mile.

Weigh Day 11

Day 85: Run 29

193.4 lbs!! Yay another good week of weight loss -3.2 lbs

Created by MyFitnessPal - Free Calorie Counter

So I have lost another 10 pounds which means it is time again for body measurements and I was very happy with what I am seeing!

Today's run was pretty awesome except for 1 thing.... my tracker didn't track my distance or my route! WTF?! I was so frustrated when I got back! I almost threw my phone! I changed my route and was excited to see if it was any longer. I am hoping to get it to about 2 miles and continue working up from there. I am currently at 1.85 ish miles but I want a solid 2!

So everyone will tell you that running is a mental thing and that is partially true, but I really hate things like:

because I know my legs aren't giving out and my head isn't giving up, what's happening is my diaphragm is killing me! I try so many different ways of breathing but for some dang reason I just can't get it right. I posted early on about side stitches (aka side aches) and I continue to try to use some of their techniques but after awhile I was getting bruises on my skin just under my rib cage from trying to press my side in to cure the stitch and keep running. I can't seem to shake it and it is pisses me.

I know my body can run farther and longer.

I am also trying to increase my water intake!

  • Motivation: I want to be even smaller!!!

  • Listening to: The muse, Drowning Pool, Rob Zombie... a little heavier and angrier is great!

  • Thankful for: My shoes! I will have to post a picture! They have Armour Guide and are helping my feet to run correctly! I have to give a shout out to my sister DILL! Thank you so much for your love and encouragement and the shoes!

I Effing Love Under Armour

Day 82: Run 28

I love running! There is just something about it that I love and I can't quite put my finger on it, but I think it might be because it's like my alone time. And it is early in the morning and so I feel some sort of awesomeness being awake before most people are. And I am running so not only am I awesome for being awake, but I am out getting stuff done!

If you're an Under Armour girl raise your hand...
If you're not... raise your standards!

It was cold Monday morning so I decided to start wearing my Under Armour Cold Gear! I am so smart! I love my Under Armour! I was so warm, but not overheating! Also I had only ever worn it snowboarding and now I can wear it running! My sister was also getting rid of a lightly used pair of Under Armour running shoes so I got basically new UA shoes and will use them tomorrow! Ia m excited!

  • Motivation:  UNDER ARMOUR

  • Listening to: Lady Gaga, Muse

  • Thankful for: UNDER ARMOUR

As you look upon my stats I think you will notice that my times have been getting faster! That is because I am trying to run more than I walk and run faster. During this run I actually heard the foot slap all these running people talk about. It was awesome!

STATS: (The route is the same one I have been doing)
Duration- 0:30:33
Distance- 1.95 miles
Average Speed- 3.84 mph

I really wanted to go running yesterday after work. I know it would have been an amazing run because I was super pissed off at this kid I work with. I have never been that angry before in my life! I was about to HULK out of control. It would have been an awesome run, but unfortunately I had to go to school... boo! I created an awesome angry play list to listen to while I run I am hoping I can conjure back up the rage I was feeling and run awesome tomorrow!

Endurance Improvement

Day 75: Run 27

Woo hoo 75 days already! Go me! Go me!

Alright so my run on Monday was awesome!!! I almost ran the entire route! I did it backwards so that I could cross the street without fighting traffic! The very first run I went on I couldn't make it more than 4 blocks without stopping. Now I can almost run the entire time! I love it! I love being able to see my progress!

What I don't love is being short and slow. I want to run fast and be crazy awesome!

Slow and Steady Still Gets a Participation Award!

Day 68: Run 23

I had a meeting yesterday at 7:30am so I tried to get up at 5:00am to go running and it just didn't work. It was dark and scary outside. I will get used to the dark, but I don't like creepy feelings and tend to listen to them and rely on them heavily so I got back in bed and went to sleep.

I made up for it today! Oh and I took a long walk Saturday and will go running again tomorrow!

Today was good, I am getting stronger and am earning my endurance little by little. Sometimes it is hard to push yourself. I am a little disappointed because I can't run a marathon right now. I understand that ideal is very unrealistic right now, but I would love to do that someday and I hate not being able to do what I want!

I wish this was going faster, I have to constantly remind myself that I did not gain all this weight at once and therefore cannot lose it all at once. Oh and just to let all of you know I am not interested in HCG. I am happy for you if it worked for you, but it is not for me.

  • Motivation:  I didn't go yesterday and I really want to be under 200 this Friday!

  • Listening to:  Katy Perry, Lady Gaga... I need some new music

  • Thankful for: Having my music back!!

Negativity and Some Curse Words Alert!

Day 64: Run 22
WEIGH DAY 8: 202.2 I gained everything I lost last week.

Which I don't understand! at 2,000 your body should maintain its weight right? Right! well I only ate over 2,000 calories one day last week. should I not have at least maintained my weight? How the hell did I gain weight? And it's not even like I went over 2,000 by that much that day. I mean I gorged myself but it's not like I went bat shit crazy!

Plus...

Today SUCKS! I'm exhausted, my back hurts, my knee hurts and the word run is a huge overstatement of what I did this morning. It was definitely terrible. My body just wouldn't move. I blame my self for listening to my father-in-law. He was a track star in high school and is still a great runner. He was talking to me about my gate so I decided today would be a good day to "Listen to my gate"

(Yeah the gate is the movement of your thigh connected to your knee and then to your shin, ankle and foot, combined with how your body touches or hits the ground. Tweaking your gate movements causes different sounds)

Well in order to listen I didn't take my music with me. That sucked, secondly I didn't even know how the hell I was supposed to be listening to hit because the sound I hear is my foot hitting the ground and it is definitely not the slapping noise I was supposed to hear and when I tweaked it, it just hurt my knee.

On top of that I couldn't get back across the street today and had to take a different route... LAME!!

Then there is just ten million little things that have happened throughout the day that just irked me even more, like dropping my keys, getting stuck behind a slow driver, the students not listening or giving me attitude... WHAT THE HELL! Just because I skipped a day of calorie counting I have to be punished 6 days late?!! ERRRRR

  • Motivation:  Weigh day
  • Listening to:  My gate!
  • Thankful for: Today being pretty much over!

  • STATS and Route:
    Duration- 0:34:51
    Distance- 2.00 miles
    Average Speed- 3.45 mph
    Average Pace- 17:23 min/mile
    Calories Burned- 225 kcal

Oh and the only reason I hit 2.00miles exactly is because when I got back to apartment it was 1.99 and so I decided to walk back and forth until it changed to 2.00!

Day 61: No workout, just food!

I found this awesome pancake recipe from Allrecipes.com because My husband and I didn't have enough Bisquick to make breakfast for dinner. I just needed something fast so I found this and turns out that each pancake is only 166 calories! Plus they are large pancakes! The recipes says 8 servings, but my husband made 5 and that's when I entered it into myfitnesspal.com's recipe thing and found out that at 5 servings each sering is only 166 calories!

Now, the recipe calls for 3 Tablespoons of butter, but I omitted this and they turned out fine hence the awesomeness and the low calorie count!

I am making it again tonight but am trying waffles with strawberries and whip cream!

    Good Old Fashioned Pancakes
    Ingredients
    • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 tablespoon white sugar
    • 1 1/4 cups milk
    • 1 egg
    • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
    Directions
    1. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, egg and melted butter; mix until smooth.

    1. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.

Created by MyFitnessPal - Free Weight Loss Tools

My run this morning was great! I love running in the morning!

Tonight starts my 24 hours of not counting calories! I'm so excited! I will most likely make myself sick! 24 hours starts once that Denny's brownie hits my mouth!

    • Motivation: I simply love to run. It's like Kelsie time in the morning! It feels good and it makes me feel strong and healthy!

    • Listening to:  Journey and Breaking Benjamin and Modest Mouse

    • Thankful for: I keep passing this woman and her daughter as they get into their car to leave for the day. They are really nice people they wave and say hi! Today they were in their car before I got to their drive way, but still let me go first! She yelled out the window, "You're working harder than I am keep going!"

STATS and I'm too tired to get the route, it's the same as Wednesday's:
    Duration- 0:31:02

Another Run Down, Another Run Down, Another Run Bites the Dust!

    Day 55: Run 19

It was hard to get up this morning. I got up and it was another great run! I even found some trees in the park that were hanging low that happened to have been sprayed by the sprinklers! Yay for water on leaves! Of course I splashed my face, but I was wearing glasses! I guess the first time I did that I was wearing contacts. Therefore I couldn't see real good for a little bit, but I kept running! Woo hoo for more food to eat!

I know I have told you before why I am doing this, but here is a simplified list!

    1. I want to be a hot wife.
    2. I want to fit into a pair of Rock Revival jeans.
    3. I want to look good at graduation.
    4. I don't want to worry about whether or not that cute clothing item comes in my size.
    5. I don't want back rolls.
    6. I want to be healthy and strong.
    7. When the time comes I want to be a cute little pregnant woman with a healthy pregnancy. Being fit helps labor go much more smoothly and recovery is much quicker. (At least that's what I have been told)
I am sure there are more reasons, but these are the most important to me right now!

    • Motivation: (See above)

    • Listening to: Journey, Breaking Benjamin, ABBA, Alien Ant Farm and Alkaline Trio

    • Thankful for: Running more and walking less! I'm holding on to the promises from the Word of Wisdom, Run and not be weary, walk and not faint! (For those who don't know what that is, it is like a health code for Mormons. If you want more info as to what it all entails see below!)

    STATS and Route:
Duration- 0:29:59 (Lets just say 30!)
    Distance- 1.87 miles
    Average Speed- 3.74 mph
    Average Pace- 16:03 min/mile
    Calories Burned- 224 kcal

I have decided to make this my permanent route for at least the rest of this week and next week, if I need to add more I will! I have come to terms with the fact that I have to use the big crosswalk because there are too many cars on R st. in the morning. (Sorry to all the on their way to workers that I have to stop)

    The Word of Wisdom
For those of you who don't know I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints aka I'm LDS, aka I'm a Mormon!

The Mormon church is quite well known for having a "Strict" health code. I say strict in quotes because A. I have lived it my whole life and don't think it is hard and B. it's really not that hard, giving up an addiction is hard.

Mormons believe that our bodies are gifts from God and that we need to keep them healthy and strong. In order to do this God gave Joseph Smith a law of health which is often referred to as the Word of Wisdom. In this law God spoke against the use of coffee, tea, alcohol and illegal drugs.

Aside from believing in the Word of Wisdom, partaking of these drinks or substances have been scientifically shown to be detrimental to our health. Alcohol affects the liver and its ability to function along with our mental capability to control our own actions. As do other illegal drugs and substances. Tobacco affects our lungs capacity to do their job. It also causes lung cancer and discoloration of different parts of your body. Tea, coffee and some pops contain caffeine which if abused can be a very addicting substance. They can also stain your teeth which is gross!  There are many different reasons to avoid these things.

The entire Word of Wisdom is contained in Doctrine and Covenants 89. It was given as a principle to live, not a commandment, but it is a principle given with promise and "adapted to the capacity of the weak and the weakest of all saints, who are or can be called saints."(D&C 89:2)

Here are versus 18-21 which contain the promises:

    18 And all saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments, shall receive health in their navel and marrow to their bones;
    19 And shall find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures;
20 And shall run and not be weary, and shall walk and not faint.
21 And I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that the destroying angel shall pass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen.

    Birthday Run!

Today is Day 54: Run 18

Yesterday was my birthday! And my little sister being the thoughtful person that she is got me a new pair of exercise pants! I so needed a new pair! They are awesome! They even have a pocket in the back for me to put my phone in! Whenever you get a new something for your workout, the first time you use it ends up being an awesome workout! SO true! I also created a new play list!

I woke up angry for some reason and today was the same, just super low on patience but my run was good! Again due to traffic I had to use the crosswalk. Also I am thinking that my tracker doesn't accurately calculate the distance. I think I am going a little further than it says. Not much, just a little further.

I completed my Running Chart!! I have exercised 30 times! (Actually more, I just don't count some of them because either I had already exercised that day or they were very small like under 30 minutes and not very vigorous!)I am glad it worked out so that I could complete it on my birthday! I would love to go get something off of the list, but our budget is super tight this month so I will have to wait. I am thinking about saving it and adding it to the next 30 so I can double the spending limit or get 2 things off of it.

R= Run, W= Workout (like at a gym), Wa or WA= Walk, and H= Hike

    • Motivation: I have new pants and a new play list!

    • Listening to:  Journey, Breaking Benjamin, ABBA, Alien Ant Farm and Alkaline Trio... Great music to listen to if your angry BTW!

    • Thankful for: Every time I run I pass the house of Lisa Berry, a woman in my Relief Society. I always hope to see her, but never do... I saw her! I saw her on day 2 because she was having a garage sale, but today she was leaving for work! She stopped and said,"Wow you kept with it, great job! When I grow up can I be like you?!" it was awesome and I definitely needed that extra bit of encouragement!
I was really hoping to be a little under 200 come this Friday weigh day but I don't think it is going to happen because I have been over my calories the last couple of days... I will still lose, but I was just really hoping for that under 200 milestone!

    STATS and Route:
    Duration- 0:31:22
Distance- 1.79 miles (I went further)
    Average Speed- 3.43 mph
    Average Pace- 17:29 min/mile
    Calories Burned- 201 kcal

Can you believe it has already been 50 days?!

    Distance- 2.15 miles
    Average Speed- 3.23 mph

    Flexability in Life is Important

    Day 49: Run 18

I did not get up and go running yesterday :(  However I did go on a long walk with my best friend Stephanie, 2.43 miles. I did not add the stats here, but I didn't want you to think I was slacking. Also Monday is my official birth-date and it will also be the day that I complete my first running chart! woo hoo! Unfortunately I do not have the funds to actually get myself something off of the list, but I figured I can save up two charts and double the spending limit on everything and buy something really nice... or buy 2 things!! Flexibility in life is important!

On a not workout note.. I no longer work at the high school! I work in the Adaptive Behavior program at Lea Hill Elementary! Woo hoo! I love it!

    • Motivation: I want to be skinny!

    • Listening to: Ke$ha and Katy Perry... man I need some new stuff... Any suggestions on good upbeat music to run to?

    • Thankful for: My legs!

STATS and Route(Which I had to change due to traffic):
    Duration- 0:29:28
    Distance- 1.72 miles
    Average Speed- 3.56 mph
    Average Pace- 17:06 min/mile

    Same Stuff Different Day

    Day 47: Run 17

Today was my first official day back at work and it sucked. I definitely felt unwelcomed back at AMHS. (That is another reason I am going to teach kindergarten, because the majority of people who work at high schools are full of themselves. Not all just most.) I got up at 6am and I did the same route as yesterday, it took like a minute longer because I did not run as much as I did yesterday. Yesterday was like a super day! Hopefully tomorrow will be like unto it!

    • Motivation: I don't know, I obviously had to have some otherwise I wouldn't have gotten out of bed... maybe it was just the underlying thing about being healthy and strong!

    • Listening to: Ke$ha, Katy Perry and Lil Mama

    • Thankful for: I am thankful the gate to the park was open this morning! I am also thankful I was able to get up early enough to run!

    STATS and Route:
    Duration- 0:28:52
    Distance- 1.71 miles
    Average Speed- 3.56 mph
    Average Pace- 16:52 min/mile
    Calories Burned- 197 kcal

    Monday, September 3, 2012

    No, I can't run a 10 min. mile... yet

    Day 46: Run* 16

Get ready to hear about quick 30 minutes runs everyday because the school year is about to start and I will be running before work every morning! For those who don't know I work as a para-educator in an Adaptive Behavior program at a high school. I go to school in the evenings to finish my teaching degree. I will be doing my student teaching in march and will graduate June 9th!! I'm super excited about it! So work starts tomorrow and school starts in like 2 weeks ish... My birthday is in one week woo hoo!

    OK back to working out...
I ran more than I walked by far! It as awesome! I just kept going! I can't run the whole thing without stopping, but I think by the end of September I will be able to!! woot woot!

*Note: When I say run I mean Kelsie run which means more jogging than running. I want to run and run fast, but I am not built for speed. I have short legs and a big belly(that is slowly melting away!). Hopefully someday I will run fast!

    • Motivation: It's Labor Day! I want food tonight! YES I reward myself with food, No it does not make me a dog! I read a myfitnesspal.com post just a few minutes ago where some stupid, stuck up ignorant, was whining about people rewarding themselves with food. I will eat what I want, when I want.. just not as much as I want!

    • Listening to: Oasis, Pitbull, Nirvana

    • Thankful for: My endurance! It is getting better! I am thankful for the old man I passed.. twice. Our paths keep meeting, it was like I went running towards his house and he went running towards my house and we passed each other on the way there and back! I hate to say this, but I am also thankful for the colder air this morning.
    STATS and Route:
    Duration- 0:27:07
    Distance- 1.66 miles
    Average Speed- 3.68 mph
    Average Pace- 16:19 min/mile
    Calories Burned- 197 kcal

I am starting to notice some flaws with my tracker. The two red circles indicate locations of incorrect tracking. The lower one is missing a part where I paced back and forth waiting for a specific part in a song with a really good beat to run to. The upper one closer to park shows that I cross 33rd st before crossing R st. but I crossed R st. first and then continued to cross 33rd st. Hmmm I will have to keep an eye one this. Perhaps my phone wasn't receiving a good satellite signal.

If you don't read the other stuff below at least check out the Motivation, Listening to, and Thankful for below! I'm super thankful!

Last night I went on a "Moonlight Hike" with my Relief Society (for those of you who don't know what that is, it is the women's organization for the Mormon church). We did the Little Naches Loop Trail. It was a lot of fun, but there were some clouds so we couldn't do it completely in the dark. We had flashlights and head lamps. (Thanks Daddy Anderson for letting me use your head lamp!) There were a ton of wild flowers! This is the picture I took with my phone!

Here are the STATS and the route map!

    Duration- 1:56:58
    Distance- 3.26 miles
    Average Speed- 1.67 mph
    Average Pace- 35.49 min/mile
    Calories Burned- 415 kcal

Then I went on a run today! It was fun too! I felt really good about myself and was able to push myself which is awesome!
    • Motivation: To be healthy and keep losing weight and inches!
    •
    • Listening to: Ke$ha and Michael Jackson
    •
    • Thankful for: I'm thankful for my strong legs that can run and walk and jump. I heard this saying once that asked the question, "What if you woke with only the things you thanked God for last night?" So now every night in my personal prayers I am thankful for much more including my legs because some people don't have the luxury of working legs.

    Before Pictures and Birthday Plans!

    Day 41: Run 14
Awesome 4114 is a palindrome! I went running  for the first time since Oregon. It was a little tougher and it didn't help that I changed up my route so I couldn't properly gage how long I had been running or walking for. I definitely walked more than I ran :( Oh well, just gotta get back in the swing of it because once next week comes I will need to start running instead of walking to save on time!

I have finally taken before pictures and here they are! I will take half way pictures and then after pictures when I get to that point!

So my birthday is coming up, September 10th, and I have decided to not count calories for a 24 hour period the following weekend and just eat what ever the heck I want! Yes, it will put my goals on hold for a little bit, but I think I deserve to have a super cheat day for my birthday because I don't normally take cheat days. I usually conserve what I eat so that I can have a huge treat! It's a lesson that I call you can either starve yourself and have a huge brownie or you can be full and happy without the brownie. I have never been upset or regretted saving my calories for a huge treat because that's what you have to do if you want to eat like that and lose weight. I have also never regretted working my tail off just so I could eat McDonald's afterwards. It's all about balance.

Also I'm putting my  plug in for my newest treat : Healthy Choice Fudge Bars!!! only 100 calories in each bar and I savor every last one! It's easy to save 100 calories for an end of the day treat! You can buy them at Costco! My husband even says they're good, so you know they have to be super good for him to say anything with a healthy label is delicious!

I personally don't care for coffee flavor but for those of you who like it I was also told that they have 90 calorie Mocha Swirl Bars!

    Today's Run:
    • Motivation: I can't give up now because I'm doing so good and I'm going to look so good!

    • Listening to: Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Britney (I need something new!)

    • Thankful for: My tummy is looking smaller, even though in the pictures it looks pretty big, I promise it is getting smaller!

    RUN STATS:

    Duration- 0:30:40
    Distance- 1.96 miles
    Average Speed- 3.83 mph
    Average Pace- 15.39 min/mile
    Calories Burned- 239 kcal

Here is the route I took!
